High poverty and worst traffic.
It may be the nation’s capital, but Washington, D.C. is one of the worst places to raise a family in America today. The average household income is decent at roughly $65,000 per year, but the poverty level remains at nearly 19%. This extreme split in income makes D.C. a dangerous place outside of the glamour of its architecture and politics.
Violence aside, D.C. also hosts some of the worst traffic in the entire country, making it a miserable place for nearly anyone aside from the president.
